Information for teachers preparing participants for the regional phase
Davant el gran interès mostrat pels centres a conèixer determinats aspectes pedagògics de la prova territorial del dia 26, us indiquem a continuació unes petites orientacions sobre la mateixa:
REGIONAL STAGE:
Task Types:
Each year the competition will use a theme to base all the tasks around. This year’s theme for the regional (2011) will be technology and forms of communication.
3rd CYCLE OF PRIMARY (5º Y 6º DE PRIMARIA)
- Vocabulary: Internet and communication vocabulary: screen, radio, message, turn off etc.
- Reading: Reading about virtual worlds. Answering questions about text + finding words in text
- Language: Present simple + Wh- questions.
- Tasks: Correcting mistakes, completing sentences, describing pictures and matching.
- Writing: Writing about preferences / writing about something important for you.
- Time Limit: 55 minutes
1st CYCLE OF SECONDARY / 1º Y 2º DE ESO)
- Vocabulary: Internet and communication vocabulary: screen, landline, turn off, download, etc.
- Reading: Reading about virtual worlds and internet sites.
- Language: Present Simple, Wh- questions and receptive passive structures.
- Tasks: Matching definitions to words, describing pictures, true / false +questions / finding words in text, answering personalised questions, gap filler.
- Writing: Making choices and clarifying why, explaining why something is important or not important.
- Time Limit: 55 minutes
2nd CYCLE OF SECONDARY (3º Y 4º DE ESO)
- Vocabulary: Internet and communication vocabulary: text messages, landline, turn off, download, words related to email, etc.
- Reading: Reading about people who are addicted to internet, virtual worlds and internet sites.
- Language: Present simple / passive / future.
- Tasks: Matching definitions, gap filler, correcting mistakes, answering personalised questions.
- Writing: Giving opinion about something and talking about advantages / disadvantages
- Time Limit: 55 minutes
BACHILLERATO/ CICLOS FORMATIVOS – INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED
- Vocabulary: Internet and communication vocabulary and phrasal verbs: take up, give up, mobile phone words, etc.
- Reading: Dangers of using mobile phones / reading about eBooks or uses of Internet.
- Language: Varied tenses – e.g. Past tenses / comparatives, conditionals, passive.
- Tasks: Sentence transformation, gap filler, deciding on appropriate word.
- Writing: Finishing a story / writing a formal letter
- Time Limit: 55 minutes
